This is borne out of a desire to keep and use paints in large quantities, which can also be kept from skinning over and curing by putting a lid on them in cans. They are the size of three-ounce cat food tins, which I'm noticed now have plastic lids sold in common grocery stores. The palette itself is elevated enough for them to hang in holes drilled into it without bottoming out.
